Can you sing? Good. But what do you do with it?
This question hits the core of what separates musical performers from singers: the ability to not just sing a song, but to perform it.
In auditions and on stage, we encounter performers with flawless voices every day. But what stays with us? Not the highest note, but the moment when we forget someone is singing and instead watch a character struggle, love, despair, or hope.
Why do we sing at all?
In Musical Theatre, there is a simple principle: When speaking is no longer enough to express what a character feels, they begin to sing. A song is always a moment of heightened emotional intensity. Yet all too often, this intensity gets buried under technical concerns: Is the pitch right? Do I have enough breath? Will I hit the high note?
The technique that should give us security can paradoxically become the barrier that separates us from authenticity.
Ole Rasmus Møller: From Performer to Coach
Ole Rasmus Møller stood on Scandinavian stages for over three decades. Les Misérables, Godspell, Hair, Annie Get Your Gun – the list of his productions is long. But at some point, he noticed something was missing: a methodology that truly connects acting and singing.
He studied Theatre Studies, completed acting training in London and Copenhagen, became an authorized singing teacher in "Complete Vocal Technique" and "Modern Vocal Training," and developed his own approach to song interpretation.
Today he coaches performers who want to go deeper. Who don't just want to know how a song works technically, but why their character sings these exact words at this exact moment.
The Workshop: Intensive. Personal. Practical.
In one day, we work together to dissolve the boundary between singing and acting.
Format: Ole Rasmus starts the day with an introduction to his work on song interpretation, followed by an hour where the entire group works through exercises together. Then each active participant sings a prepared song and works intensively with Ole Rasmus Møller for 30 minutes, accompanied by James Mironchik on piano. The group watches, learns, and experiences the transformation.
Duration: 6 hours workshop + 1 hour break
What you take away
You learn to treat your song as what it is: a monologue with music. You understand which questions you need to ask yourself before you sing the first note. You experience how your performance changes when you stop singing and start communicating.
And you watch 6 other performers on the same journey – each with a different song, a different story, a different challenge. That alone is a masterclass.
Who is this workshop for?
For professional musical performers who want to take their song interpretation to the next level. For everyone who feels that technical perfection alone is not enough. For performers who want to be not just heard, but seen in the audition room.
Students and beginners are invited to take one of the observer spots.
This workshop is a pilot project by Castapp – we want to use our network to give the community access to first-class coaches and professional development opportunities.
